On Friday 16 June, IoTAA convened the first of a series of Deep Dive workshops. The Water Deep Dive took place in Perth at Water Corporation’s headquarters with 36 industry experts in attendance. The five-hour workshop explored the future of water for WA through the lenses of:
– smart infrastructure
– customer expectations
– regulatory and governance restrictions and
– innovative business services.
Attendees included senior executives for Water Corporation, representatives from Water Services Association of Australia, and the IoTAA team including WaterGroup, SAP, KPMG, Itron, Huawei, Quantify Technology and Blue IoT. Former Pollenizer coach Sam Birmingham, facilitated the workshop.
The group discussed the balance of rain, desalinated and bore water, engaging the community in fit-for-purpose models, and using data to drive understanding and service innovation. Ideas from the day are being consolidated into a future options paper to be shared with participants, to define a clear set of future actions and outcomes.
“This was the first of the Deep Dives”, said IoTAA CEO Frank Zeichner, “so we’ve tested the model and seen how it works. With a few tweaks we can apply the model to other sectors in future.” Special thanks to the Water Corporation for being the first focus client. We also thank KPMG for hosting the pre-Deep Dive drinks.
